Irish Conference Report
The second Irish Conference was held at the Emmaus Retreat Centre in Co. Dublin. People travelled from Scotland, Northern Ireland and England and of course several parts of Ireland for the weekend. Friday night was spent on introductions and each person sharing on why they had come to the conference. This was followed by a testimony given by Meryl Langley.
Saturday was devoted to teaching from the Teacher Training outline on the background and basics of what we believe. The subjects covered were One Person in the Universe, the Origin of Evil, Creation and the Fall of Man and the Law and the Cross. This part of teaching was covered by Irene, Marian and Richard with relevant Bible references. Examples from their personal experiences were given to illustrate the important points. This took us up to lunch time.
We had some free time after lunch to get some fresh air and chat with each other.
In the afternoon Christina gave a presentation on The Roman Road which covered the gospel, the solution to man’s problem. Christina also shared on No Independent Self from the Teacher Training outline. This was followed appropriately by Meryl teaching on Body, Soul, and Spirit. This covered the practical outworking of what we believe in our daily lives. The relevant Scripture references on distinguishing Body, Soul and Spirit were given as well as personal examples to illustrate the key points. Throughout the teaching sessions there was time for questions and discussion on the various topics and there was quite a bit of inter-action between the members of the group.
On the Saturday evening after dinner we went for a walk along the beach at Malahide and around the village itself afterwards. The remainder of Saturday night was spent chatting in small groups and in the big group and snacking into the wee small hours.
On Sunday morning Christina spoke on the Word of Faith which was very inspiring. We each shared what each of us had learned or re-learned from the weekend. Everybody contributed to this part of the sharing. It was very encouraging to see new light dawning on people and others getting a clearer understanding of our faith.
After lunch we all headed off in various directions and are looking forward to meeting again at Blowing Rock summer camp in a few weeks time.
