Editor’s Note
This past Easter our friends in Great Britain held their ninth annual conference. Several of us were able to attend, and we were thrilled to see the change in so many lives. Because they all see each other fairly often (in fact, a core group gets together once a month), the difference in their lives is not so apparent to them, but we saw some dramatic transformations. We know, of course, that we don’t change. Rather, as we believe who we are and trust that Christ is living His life out through us, and confess and are willing to be rid of the unbelief that has been blocking that clear flow, we are "transformed by the renewing of our minds." Then the transformation which looks so startling is actually commonplace. God’s purpose has always been to live His extraordinary life in and through very ordinary vessels. What we take takes us!
Having said that, it was still a joy to see the vitality and enthusiasm in so many who have been "taken" by the truth they took some years ago. Folks who were swamped by their problems, their feelings, their jobs, their lacks, are now consumed with other people and their main drive is to clearly present the answer they themselves have found and live from. They are "Faithful men who will he able to teach others also" (2 Tim. 2:2), and are giving their time, money and reputations to do so. It is wonderful to watch the spirit of unity and cooperation which has grown among them.
The same can be said of the young people. Some of them have been to almost every conference, and from quiet, shy little people, they have turned into vibrant, vocal sold-out Christians with a heart for seeing Christ formed in each other and their friends. You will all be receiving a copy of Znews, the young folks’ magazine, and you can see for yourself the contributions of our young British friends. They are a delight to know and it is encouraging to see such clarity and purpose at their age.
The bond between old and young, British and Americans, is not that we like each other, or have known each other a long time, or that we’ve been showing up at the same conference for years. No, it is a Person. We recognize and know each other because we see the same Person expressed, and we are united by the desire to see others know that Person as their very selves. It is a privilege to join with our friends across the ocean toward the attaining of this goal.
