Excerpts from The Intercession of Rees Howells
Seek ye first the kingdom of God and His righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you. -Matthew 6:33.
The Word says, "Sin shall not have dominion over you" (Romans 6:14), and unbelief is the greatest sin. Unbelief limits God and you cannot live a life of faith if you cannot trust H. Many people say, "Oh, God is the owner of the silver and the gold," but yet they cannot trust hkn. When He told me to bye the tramps and help them, my first thought was, "Why didn’t He ask me white I had money?" But that would soon have finished in any case, but there was one source that would never fail – the unlimited resources of God. I was earning good money but I an to live on sixpence a day, on bread and cheese, in order to help the tramps and there were time, when no one but God knew I needed money, and He used to send me what I needed to the penny. All the time I knew that the Hoy Spirit in me was stronger than the enemy. It did not matter how many tramps the Hoy Spirit brought: I knew that He was able to feed and clothe them all.
The best lesson I ever learned was that He could not answer me unless I had fulfilled the conditions. He wanted me to trust His Word, "Take no thought for the morrow," and He showed me that if I doubted this I was doubting Him. You don’t ow what faith you have until it is tested. The Lord guided me step by step and He said, "If ye abide in me, and my words abide in you, ye shall ask what ye will, and it all be done unto you" (John 15:7). Abiding in Him became natural, and every thought was brought into captivity. When there were disappointments in the village, I was not affected by them. Nothing people did could change the love of the Hoy Spirit for them. I think of my years of love of the Hoy Spirit for them. I think of my years of ‘abiding’ h the village. What a wonderful life it was – ‘within the sacred veil’ day after day. The Word says, "If I regard iniquity in my heart the Lord will not hear me," (Psalm 66:18) but also, No good thing will He withhold from them that walk uprightly (Micah 2:7) and "Lord, who shall abide in the tabernacle? Who shall dwell in thy holy hill? He that walketh uprightly and worketh righteousness." (Psalm 15: 1,2.)
