Annual Business Meeting
The real business of Zerubbabel is to present every man perfect in Christ Jesus. Our recent meeting had as it’s focus, the exhortation that all of us have equal value in the kingdom of God. We all have varied and sundry gifts from God in our abilities, as well as in our life experiences and circumstances. This means that if one of us is having difficulty in our believing in a specific area like raising a child as a single parent, or dealing with a high pressure work situation, or chronic defeat with an obsession or an addiction, there is also another one among us who can rise to the challenge and share how Christ walked that kind of problem out as us.
We are often tempted to see ourselves as unimportant or not wise at the very time we could be Christ to another by sharing an insight or asking a question. We may feel that since there are leaders present with godly insight, we should just let them do all the talking, or planning, or offering any other kind of help. Yes, it is important to respect and listen to the words of Christ in those who have proven themselves trustworthy, but that is not a justification for seeing ourselves as anything less than Christ in our forums. It is the Spirit of Christ that makes us who we really are; we did not make ourselves children of God with His nature. Our job is to believe it by stepping out in the faith that it is Christ doing it by us. If we make a mistake, God will honor our faith by giving us more light; He is wise enough to guide even you and me.
The attitude of holding back is neither modest nor meek, prudent nor humble. It is self-focused, cowardly, faithless and cruel. When we were in need ourselves, did not God use people around us to encourage, correct, rescue and heal us? How can we stand in silence when others are in need as we ourselves once were? Is it not far bet-ter, for the joy that is set before us, to see ourselves as much like Jesus as any other man, worthy to share in the struggles of the battle, worthy to help win the prize! Worthy to share in the cost of time, money and energy! Worthy to see other sons and daughters brought forth into the kingdom of God by us! Worthy because the Blood of Christ made us worthy, and the Spirit of Christ gave us a whole new nature and a whole new way to live!
