Zerubbabel Focus–Rebuilding the Temple: The Business of Zerubbabel, 1997
The 1997 business meeting of Zerubbabel was held April 26, 1997 in Boone, North Carolina. It started out as a fairly typical review of the year’s revenues and expenditures, in addition to reports on the book ministry and the Alpen Acres motel. Through the morning, however, a new realization emerged. The levels of sophistication and diversification in each area of the ministry indicated to all involved how comprehensive and multifaceted Zerubbabel’s organization has become.
As we developed an organizational flow chart, we realized that ideas that seemed to be pipe dreams years ago have become reality. Words of faith about where we wanted to be physically, operationally, and spiritually have been realized in ways that no one would have ever imagined. What started as a word of faith that there would be a conference center in Boone has resulted in a multinational ministry with many aspects, including regional conferences, an organized youth ministry, and a publishing section. The retreat center itself is much more than simply a place to come for two meetings each year. The people and facilities in Boone comprise a Total Living Center where troubled Christians can come and learn to live in community as Christ in them.
The realization of Zerubbabel as a Total Living Ministry has inspired us to begin a new regular column in The Intercessor. We plan to review a different aspect of Zerubbabel’s Total Living Ministries in each issue. We want to inform our readership about the many aspects of our ministry so that people who need help will know what is available.
Zerubbabel is the product of God’s hard work coming through many faithful people. Many challenges to our collective believing have served to strengthen, not weaken, this ministry. Leadership has arisen from the ranks of the enlisted. Expertise has been cultivated in publishing, management, and counseling. All that we are today is the result of believing through had times, seeing God in hopeless situations.
We believe that we are attaining what Norman Grubb envisioned: Living Links. This is what we know our ministry to really be about. People, living life with the knowledge that Jesus Christ lives in them, going out to the world, ready with spiritual, physical, and financial help at many levels for many problems. Zerubbabel today is much more that simply a tape ministry, book ministry, publishing company, or a motel. Zerubbabel is God going about God’s work.
