OVERVIEW OF THE AUDIOTAPE COLLECTION

I have been looking after the tape ministry for Britain and Ireland for the last two years and have found it very rewarding, particularly since I enjoy audiotapes so much. The tapes available can be broadly categorised into three sections: teachings from specific sections of the Bible, teachings on different aspects of our Christian walk, and personal testimonies.

Norman Grubb covers a wide selection of the men of faith in the Old Testament, as well as Paul’s teachings. His insight and grasp of the message of the Gospel has deepened my understanding of the truth. His tapes do demand a few hearings but are well worth it for the pleasure of hearing such a teacher. Brett Burrowes has an excel-lent set of six tapes based on Romans 1-8. This study of Romans is very enlightening, and we are blessed to have a Bible scholar of such calibre among us.

Page Prewitt’s and Brian Coatney’s tapes deal mainly with walking out faith in everyday life. They discuss day-to-day situations I can relate to and to which I can apply the truth of who I am in Christ. Page Prewitt’s "Body, Soul, and Spirit" is a must for everyone. It opened my eyes to who I am in Christ and helped me move on to a fuller understanding of the Gospel. Another favourite of mine is "Faith Creates a Reality."

Personal experiences are related in all of the tapes. However, there is a selection of personal testimonies, and as I have listened to each one, I have realized that we all can identify with each other at some point in our lives. It is encouraging to hear how knowing the truth that there is no independent self can move us into a new level of faith and a greater quality of life.

I listen to these tapes mostly when I am driving. There is always something new to hear, despite how often I have heard the tape before. I find that they keep my focus on the truth at all times, and I am all the better prepared to meet the tough situations of life.
