Moments with Meryl
One thing I’ve seen recently that’s helped me out of independent believing is this: comparing myself with others is fatal. The tapes I was hearing in my thinking said "look at you, others are passing exams, gaining promotions, and you’re just a secretary." So in my misuse I tried to match up by expanding my vocabulary and writing letters using technical jargon like my superiors at the hospital. Why didn’t it work? What was wrong? It didn’t used to be like this. I thought back to such times and realized that in the early days of knowing this truth, I simply behaved naturally and trusted it was Christ going on. What a relief. "Just get back to fundamentals, Meryl, and let Christ be as you." I don’t have to become someone (like anyone else). I contain Jesus Christ and He expresses His life as me–as an excellent secretary!!
