As this issue of the Intercessor goes to press, we are thinking back to March of 1992 when several of us came to Boone to search for a location for our retreat center. We were so exhilarated when we came upon the Alpen Acres Motel-we knew this was it. The details of buying it, taking over a going concern, twenty some folks making plans to move all seemed to work out as we corporately and individually trusted God. "When I was in the way the Lord led me." As we did the next step God put before us on a daily basis, we looked up with some surprise, and a great deal of gratitude, to find that we had taken over the motel on June 1, the exact date on which we had all said and believed we would begin construction on our Total Living Center-and here it was, already constructed!

Several articles in this issue focus on faith-what it is and how we apply it. Looking back, we see how God honored our corporate word of faith when the circumstances made it seem impossible. But we had to take our eyes off the very "real seeming" circumstances and look at the unseen, eternal fact of God who, as David says, is in His heaven and does whatever He pleases. He is not bound by the temporal, the temporary, so neither are we. It has been thrilling to us to watch Him move through the apparent impossibilities, knocking them over like so many dominoes. Our magazine has been published from our Boone headquarters for a year now; folks have come here for various lengths of time to learn who they are and how to live as who they are; our team here meets on a daily basis to find God’s mind on the next step He has for us, and we are in close contact with many "in the field" whose lives are commissioned to spread this total gospel where they live. These facts were but a short time ago hopes of what we would be doing and how our center would operate. But faith united with our hopes, and God honored that faith. Truly, "faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen."
