Moments with Meryl
It was great seeing everyone again at Castleton after two to three months and wonderful to have Page, Sanda and Scott with us.
Our plan was to cover the complete teaching outline (albeit in an abbreviated and simple version) during the whole weekend. This was led by Mary Walsh, Christina Duncan, and myself, although each session included group participation, too. This was a "first" for us without relying on any "American" teaching. I just never tire of hearing this out-line; it is the truth and it’s mine. It answers all those questions I had unanswered for years. What a wonder and a privilege.
I was covering Union/Two Natures and Body, Soul, and Spirit. I tell you, was I "practicing what I was preaching"! As I was speaking and drawing, I was thinking, "This is awful; it’s not coming across how I want it to." Immediately I came back with, "Now shift your focus quickly on to the real temptation: Who is doing this? No independent Meryl exists–that’s right. This really is Christ/Meryl standing here talking."
After a while I did relax but still felt relieved once it was over. I’d come through the first time, though, and no doubt improvement will come in time. I think we were all proud of what Jesus Christ had achieved.
For me, the weekend concluded perfectly when Page spent some time encouraging us and enlarging our understanding of intercession. What a challenge. But once we know who we are, we cannot escape the commission–we don’t want to, anyway. Since it is Jesus Christ carrying on His life in us, we gladly (?!) accept the cost and await the completion.
