Job, by Norman Grubb

Norman Grubb describes the book of Job as a prototype book—one that shows God’s determined and necessary way of producing a perfect relationship. Contrary to natural man’s thinking, this is a book of perfect love, by the perfect Lover. This fact becomes clearer as Norman describes Job’s fruit-bearing Christian life, the trials God allowed Satan to inflict upon him, the conversations between Job, his friends, Elihu and God, and the result of this testing—Job being perfected. According to Norman, the most important lesson to learn from this book is that the Lord directs Satan to certain ends. He is directing situations in our lives and uses evil for the ultimate fullness of blessing. Put simply everything that is not of faith is sin. The only sin is not believing God to be what He is. Therefore, we must see all as from God.
