The Intercessor, Vol 16 No 1

Editor’s Note
by Editor(s)

What does it really mean to be "Christ in my form"? How can I make the truth real in my life? What exactly is faith, and how do I use it to solve the everyday problems of living? Do my prayers really make a difference? How? Like most of us, the contributors to this issue of The Intercessor have asked such questions, and all answer in their own unique voice.

"Faith crosses an unbridgeable gulf into the invisible, unknowable, impossible," says Norman Grubb in this issue’s lead article, "How Acquire Faith." Although clearly an elemental topic, many Christians misunderstand the true nature of faith. This penetrating article explores the important difference between placing faith in our reactions and depending on God alone. Brett Burrowes’ excellent Bible study answers the same question showing how Old Testament men of faith took God at His word and acted on it. An even closer picture of this life of faith unfolds in the second installment of Intercession in Action as Norman recounts two of his five major intercessions. "Faith Lessons" spotlights the crisis of union in the lives of Jacob and Joseph through which they took God at His word and lived transformed lives recorded for us for all time.

In addition to the lead articles, do not miss the other pieces in this issue. In Jon Langley’s "The Blessings of Discipline," a young man shares how his life has been revolutionized by a decision to submit to God’s discipline. Jon’s mother, Meryl Langley, continues the story of God’s total control over circumstances in her column, "Moments with Meryl." Breda Sunderland reviews The Key to Everything, a short and powerful booklet that nails down our identity as vessels. In "Tapetalk," Gail Bedell moves through Norman’s teaching on Hebrews with its focus on us as intercessor/priests. "Old Friends of Norman," a special feature in this issue’s "Area Fellowship News," contains remembrances of folks who credit Norman Grubb with instigating profound spiritual changes in their lives. Finally, don’t overlook the short features in this issue, such as "The Process of Faith," an encouragement to persevere, and "Questions? and Answers!," in which Norman shares the true nature of prayer.

As always, we appreciate our readers’ feedback on The Intercessor. We very much want The Intercessor to be a resource, a place to go for help with important issues that everyone faces when living a faith life. Let us hear from you.

Statement of Faith

The purpose of Zerubbabel Press is to further the great high calling of the Lord Jesus to carry His Gospel to the whole world. This calling is known in the Christian world as the Great Commission. Our interpretation of the Gospel is that Jesus Christ was the second member of the Trinity, fully God, made manifest in the flesh. He was tempted in all points as we are, but totally without sin. He was crucified for the sins of the world, was buried, and rose from the dead on the third day, according to the Scriptures. He gives the power to become the sons of God to all who receive Him.
