For God so loved the world that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life. –John 3:16
God has never changed his love, the love that was manifested in the Saviour on Calvary. This is the first condition in intercession, and the beginning of the life of the intercessor-to love enough to take the place of others.
One of the first things the Holy Spirit said to me at the convention, after he came in was, ‘Of all the Father has given you, see that you lose nothing.’ In this way he got me to pray only those prayers that he gave me and I was to be responsible for the answer. The first prayer he prayed through me was for a young man who was an outcast, who had not been home for two years and used to sleep on the boilers in the tin mill. When I went home I went to look for this young man. I used to walk through the village with him and I made him my companion and I am positive that the love I had for him was the love of the father for the prodigal son. The Holy Spirit took me right out of the company of other believers and gave me joy in this one soul. I prayed for him to have a blessing at Christmas and this was the first time I knew I had reached the throne and would get an answer. I saw the Saviour following one soul, the Good Shepherd who was bent on finding the sheep that was lost. There was something about this first soul that I had that caused me to know the joy of the Saviour, the Joy of.a soul brought out of death into life. I remember the day when he was dressed respectably and in chapel and when he went to London to see his mother.
Only the Saviour knows the value of a soul, and unless you have seen heaven and hell you do not know it. I followed this young man with the love of the Saviour, and if there is so much joy for one, what will it be when the harvest is gathered in!
