Birth of the News

How exciting it was to physically be a part of "the new beginnings" recently, and to see at first hand the way an issue of The Intercessor comes into being.

Let me try and give you a picture of the proceedings. Venue, Ron & Pat Mace’s living room, adjacent to the reservations lobby of the Alpen Acres Motel in North Carolina. Fifteen or more very enthusiastic, spirit-filled people, whose desire was nothing less than to present the total truth of Jesus Christ as our life, in as clear a form as possible to our many readers.

Each separate article that had been submitted to the magazine would be read out, whereupon there would be an immediate and loud response as everyone chipped in with their various ideas and variations of editing. Sentences would be thrown back and forward between us and sometimes it would sound almost chaotic, and then, out of what often looked like total confusion, it would become immediately clear just what was meant to be going into the magazine.

There were very serious moments interspersed with laughter and fun. Sometimes, even what looked like a final decision could be changed as someone came up with a more suitable rendering. A true example of the "Mind of Christ" being expressed through the body present.

We actually began in the lobby as a number of guests who were staying in the motel came in for various necessities such as ice, coffee, shampoo etc., they would be faced with this group of God people sitting, lying, pens, paper in hand completely unselfconsciously discussing God’s business.

If you can add to this picture the surroundings of the beautiful snow covered Smokey Mountains, you may begin to get a sense of the excitement being generated here in the USA as the vision to have an outreach center to all the world is coming into being.
