A Look at a Book
BOOK REVIEW: Yes, I Am
by Norman Grubb
Zerubbabel Press has recently reprinted Yes, I Am, and I am proud to review the book. We have taken Norman’s original text and corrected only the obvious typographical errors. The text otherwise remains unchanged from the original.
To offer a review of one of Norman’s seminal works seems unnecessary. Anyone familiar with his work certainly knows Yes, I Am. Since the book has been out of print for many years, copies of the book are quite scarce. Many of those devoted to Norman and his writings have cherished their well worn copies, under-lined and marked in many colors, with a rubber band holding the pages together. These readers, assuredly, are thrilled to have access to a new copy. For those who do not know the book, I encourage you to get a copy and dive into it.
The title of the first chapter, "Total Truth," tells us the scope of the book. Norman expresses his whole message, Christ in you, the hope of glory, in this book. Similar to, yet more detailed than Who Am I?, Yes, I Am, takes the reader through a step-by-step development of the message. What is a person and how does a person function? Why we don’t have a "human nature," as often discussed in so many organized church denominations. Why everything is either Christ or Satan.
The book is not just a theological discussion, but is also loaded with many chapters of practical advice. I have read and reread several chapters at different points in my life where Norman’s insights were most needed and timely. A couple of the most important to me are "Difficult People" and "From Negative to Positive Believing." With a foundation grounded in the first chapters of the book, these later, more specific chapters are the tools of change for our lives. These are the chapters that map out for us in detail how to achieve a working under-standing of the Total Truth and then make it work for us.
I encourage the reader, both veteran and neophyte to get a copy of Yes, I Am, read it, study it, and find God’s blessing in it for you.
