The Intercessor, Vol 14 No 1

Editor’s Note
by Editor(s)

Desperation, an experience common to most of us, is the focus of the latest installments of our two teaching articles. Norman Grubb’s "What Is this Human Self of Ours" and Page Prewitt’s "Body, Soul, and Spirit" highlight the solution to the desperation in our lives. Norman plumbs the depths of our deception about our true identity, expounding Paul’s revelation of the true meaning of Christ’s body and His blood. Page also touches on Paul’s discovery of how to live free from sin in a superb discussion of soul versus spirit. Colette Burger’s "Anatomy of Unbelief’ provides an excellent example of this soul/spirit distinction. She describes how she hid behind silence and fear rather than using these feelings as a springboard to faith.

Also featured in this issue are contributions by some of the young people within our ministry. "Zerubbabel Focus," written by one of our youth leaders, Carson Coatney, spotlights the multi-faceted outreach of the Youth Ministry. His report gives an overview of the Bible-based guidance which has been offered to the children and young adults of our fellowship to help them navigate the difficulties of contemporary life. The "Youth Report: Fall Harvest in New York" offers an example of the Christ-centered teaching and activities that comprise a youth conference-and the joy-filled "harvest" of young souls for Christ. Finally, "Tony’s Testimony," by Tony Mansoor, tells the story of the life-changing power of Jesus Christ in a young man’s life. To further acquaint readers with the activities of our young people, Z-News, the youth magazine of Zerubbabel Ministries, will be mailed to the entire Intercessor readership in the summer of 1998.

Also, in this issue our Irish correspondent, Breda Sunderland, offers two eloquent articles. Her review of Norman Grubb’s The Spontaneous You recaptures the essence of this foundational work. In "Musings on the British Conference," Breda reflects on the positive impact of fellowship on our Christian walk. And don’t miss Janie Prewitt’s delightful tape review of Norman Grubb’s "Jonah." Of special now is the short but powerful "Need–Evidence of Supply."

Finally, this issue is labeled "Winter, 1998." As we expand our publishing ministry to produce books and a broader selection of pamphlets, The Intercessor is going to be sent out quarterly, and will include four additional pages. We plan to present more teaching articles on a common theme, as well as allow more space to provide a fuller presentation of the Total Truth.

We want to thank you, our readers, for the encouragement of your letters, prayers, and support.

Statement of Faith

The purpose of Zerubbabel Press is to further the great high calling of the Lord Jesus to carry His Gospel to the whole world. This calling is known in the Christian world as the Great Commission. Our interpretation of the Gospel is that Jesus Christ was the second member of the Trinity, fully God, made manifest in the flesh. He was tempted in all points as we are, but totally without sin. He was crucified for the sins of the world, was buried, and rose from the dead on the third day, according to the Scriptures. He gives the power to become the sons of God to all who receive Him.
