Faith Produces Works
At the Alpen Acres during summer camp, I volunteered to do fence replacement. This involved several of the older youth group lads helping me. Their muscle power was useful for carrying posts and rails, especially so when new post holes had to be dug. Another task was to fell a rotting tree. I did not know how to do this, as my only experience with a chainsaw was trimming fence rails, so I k new advice was required. I received advice from a competent person on how and where to cut the trunk so the tree would fall in the small space available. I was then left to do the task. OK, I had the chainsaw ready and the knowledge in my head, also other thoughts like, "Did he tell me right; can I believe him; will it fall precisely where I want; what if this happens or that happens; can I really do this?" I thought, "I’m never going to know just standing here. I’d better have faith, believe and most of all take action to really know." It’s just the same in the spirit realm. A problem pops up. What should I do? I don’t know. Well, I’ll seek good advice. Then can I believe it for myself. If my answer is "no," nothing changes. If I say "yes" in my head but still take no action, nothing changes. Only believing and action bring about change.
Well, the tree fell in exactly the right place. My advisor was proven right and trustworthy. He had confidence and experience. I felt lacking in these areas, but faith and action brought about change, adding more than one skill to my/Christ life experience. Plus, I can say God brought up the problem. God had the answer in one of His servants. I believed and had faith for myself and acted on it. Problem solved! Praise God.
